    Moving Estimate

    1. Cost to Transport: Obtaining several quotes and be prepared to answer several questions regarding the type of service you want. But cost will be determined by by the following factors:

    • origination/destination
    • approximate departure date
    • type of vehicle(s)
    • type of car transport service desired: Each car transport company has different services, regulations and delivery guarantees that will affect the cost of the service
    • We can only suggest get several estimates on the service that best suits your needs, as not all Vehicle transporters provide the same services.

TRUCK DOOR TO DOOR - Vehicle picked up at your residence and delivered to your specified location by an open air carrier truck.

TERMINAL TO TERMINAL - Vehicle dropped off at terminal and delivered to another terminal - transported by open air carrier

EXPEDITED SERVICE - Vehicle delivered within a specified time frame - transported by open air carrier.

ENCLOSED TRUCK - Vehicle transported by closed truck

DRIVEAWAY SERVICE - Professional Driver drives vehicle.

OVERSEAS SHIPPING - Check with Professional Car Transporter

    2. Payment Method: Again, this varies form company to company. Make sure you know up front if a down payment is required, or you may have to pay in full in advance. Make sure you understand each option and what is your recourse should damage occur during pick up/transport and delivery.

    3. Insurance: Your vehicle(s) should be insured against damage and theft by your car transport company. Ask for a copy of the insurance coverage provided for your records. It is also to contact both your insurance company and the auto transport company to determine who is primary or secondary coverage in case of damage or theft. In addition you car insurance may cover car transporting so check all your options before signing. Insurance will not cover any personal belonging you may have in the vehicle during transport.

    4. Thoroughly check your car before transport and after. Note any pre-existing dents or scratches before the transport. Also check your mileage. Note everything. Upon delivery again, check your mileage and inspect for any damage that may have occurred during transport. Most transports are worry free and without damage but they do happen. Should you find damage upon delivery of your vehicle note the damages on your car inspection report, ask for the drivers signature and report these items to your car transport company.

    5. Pick Up and Delivery Dates: Make sure you know the estimated pick up and delivery times. Estimates are usually within a 3 - 4 day time frame, so be flexible. Be aware if using a terminal to store vehicle until transport takes place this could effect your rate for service. Ask questions! If a company promises exact dates for pick up and delivery get it in writing from the transport service and find out what reimbursement you are entitled to they do not follow through.

    6. Disputes: If you believe that a car transport company has treated you unfairly, and you and the car service cannot resolve the issues, you may file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in the city in which the car transport company is listed. The U.S. Dept. of Transportation http://www.dot.gov/ regulates car transport companies, however they normally do not get involved until after you have a court judgment against a car transport company (in small claims court, for example).
